Wildcraft!

Finally, a board game that truly speaks to me! Wildcraft is a cooperative adventure game where players set off on a mission to get huckleberries from the huckleberry patch and bring them back to grandma’s house. On the way up the mountain, you will encounter troubles and learn which plants can help you recover. Make sure everyone gets back to Grandma’s before nighttime or you lose!

Wildcraft is perfect for any person passionate about plants and natural healing (like me!) or anyone looking for an adventure.

How To Play

Set Up
Each player gets a pawn and 4 plant cards to start.
Do you see the beautiful artwork in this game?! I just love the colorful pictures of the plants and scenery.

TIP – I find this game to be very easy to beat. In fact, we have never lost while playing the standard version. So, to make it a challenge, we like to start a little further in the day. To do this, we put a couple black markers on the sun spaces at the top of the board before we start.

Game Play

Game play is simple. Spin the spinner and move that many spaces. Depending on which spot you land on determines what you do.

If you spin a 1 – Move one space and pick up a helper card.

Plant Space – Pick up a plant card.

Trouble Space – Pick up a trouble card. Try to use the plants you have to heal your ailment. Each time you successfully match a plant card to a trouble card, advance to the next rest space.

Rainbow Space – Pick up a helper card.
Helper Card – choose to bring forward the player furthest behind to be with you and discard OR save the helper card to use at any time to help another player with one of your plant cards when they get into trouble.

Purple Rest Space – Rest this turn. You can use the numbers on the rest space to follow the Wildcraft Story, if you choose.

Nightfall Space – Add 1 black marker to the sun spaces at the top of the board.

Trails & Water – If you land on one of these spaces, you must follow the trail or water. Trails take you up AND down. Water only slides you down.

The Huckleberry Patch

Once a player gets to the huckleberry patch, they pick up one huckleberry and their turn is over. Each player must bring Grandma 2 huckleberries. The first player that gets to the huckleberry patch can continue to collect huckleberries on their turn until enough berries are collected for the whole team. (ex. 3 players, 6 berries)

Once enough berries are collected, the players at the patch can work their way back down the mountain. Any player not at the patch must continue to work their way up until they reach the players climbing down.

If a player with the berries slides down the water and passes the players that are still on the way up, those players can now start to move down the mountain, too.

Would we play this game again?

YES! My kids are always begging to play Wildcraft. It’s definitely one of their all time favorites.

I have personally learned so much about how to use plants as medicine from Wildcraft. There is a wonderful 30+ page book (that you get access to when you buy Wildcraft) that explains how each plant in the game is used and for what. There is also a coloring book and story book to go along with the game. My kids and I have found lots of plants in our backyard and local park that we learned about in Wildcraft. Truly a nature lovers game!
