Perfect Royal Icing
This icing is the best for gingerbread houses. It’s strong, thick and yummy. We used it for our Gingerbread Houses this year. It’s super easy to make.
You will need:
1 pound Confectioner’s sugar
3 large Egg whites
1/2 tsp Cream of Tartar
Beat egg whites until they form stiff peaks.
In a separate bowl, sift sugar and cream of tartar mixing them together.
Combine with beated egg whites and mix until smooth.
Place in a piping bag and get to work! Keep unused portions covered.
We have used this recipe for years now and love how it holds our gingerbread houses together so well. It has such a puffy, snowy look to it!

Can you clarify if this needs 3 egg whites or 3 full cups of egg whites???? That seems like a LOT of egg whites, but was nervous to make it and waste it all.

This was a typo! 3 egg whites. Glad you checked. I just made it yesterday and it came out perfect!
