Paper Plate Pokeball Kid’s Craft That Actually Opens!

This weekend, my kids traded their Build-A-Bear “tickets” in for cute Pokemon stuffed animals and suddenly everything in our house is all about Pokemon! My son has been asking for Pokemon crafts. Here’s how to make your very own Pokeball using a paper plate! Your kids will love showing off their Pokeballs in this fun and interactive way.

You will need:
2 Paper Plates
Colored Pencils or Markers
Scissors
Glue
Brass Fastener
Hole Punch
Red & Black Construction Paper
Pokemon Coloring Pages (we just used google for this)

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Color a picture of your favorite Pokemon.

2. Glue your picture to a paper plate.

3. Cut a second paper plate in half.

4. Trace one half of the paper plate onto red construction paper and cut out the half circle.

5. Glue your red half circle onto one half of the cut paper plate.

6. Cut a strip of black paper, ours was just over a half inch thick.

7. Cut out a large black circle and glue it in the middle with half of the circle hanging over the edge. We used a large mason jar to trace the circle.

8. Cut out a smaller white circle. We used the inside of the mason jar lid to trace. Glue the white circle on top of the black circle.

9. Glue a small black circle on the white circle.

10. Lay the 2 halves of on top of the plate with your pokemon and use the hole punch to create a hole for the brass fastener. Attach the fastener and open the 2 tabs to hold it in place.

Now your Pokeball can open and close to capture your Pokemon!
