Paper Hair Salon – An Exciting Fine Motor Activity

I surprised Miss 4 with this craft-ivity yesterday. She was so excited to see the dolls waiting for her on her Flisat Table. I got this idea from Laughing Kids Learn and I knew my daughter would love it. She’s all about crafts, cutting and HAIR! It’s really easy to set up and doesn’t take too long. You should definitely give this one a try!

You will need:
Construction Paper
Cardboard Tubes (toilet paper rolls)
Scissors
Hot Glue or Double Sided Tape
Sharpie
Googly Eyes

Instructions:

1. Start by cutting strips down each sheet of paper about 3/4 inch wide. Make sure to leave a band about 2 inches wide uncut at the bottom to attach the fringed paper onto the cardboard tubes.

2. Attach the fringe to the tubes using a hot glue gun or double sided tape.

For hot glue, glue one end onto the tube. Then, wrap it tightly and glue the other end. You don’t have to glue the whole way around.

3. Make cute faces! I used self adhesive googly eyes (my favorite!) and a sharpie to make a pirate, and a few boys and girls.

4. Get to cutting!

Miss 4 naturally cut them from short to long. She said “I’m going to make this one longer than this one, and this one longer than that”.. and so on! She LOVED cutting her dolls hair.

Does your little one like cutting paper? Give this a try and comment below ↓ how it went!
