Painting With Salt & Glue

Painting with salt and glue is really cool! Ahria was amazed by the way the colored water absorbs into the salt and spreads. You have got to try this!

You will need:
Food coloring
Water
Thick paper – painting paper is best
Salt
Egg carton – or something else to hold the colored water

Start by drawing a picture and tracing it with glue.

Sprinkle the salt onto the glue as if it were glitter. Make sure all the glue is covered with salt.

While you are waiting for your glue to dry, make your colored water. I like to use an egg carton for easy cleanup. This way you can make a lot of colors too.

When your glue is dry, dump the extra salt off of the page and start painting! I put paper towels underneath the page to help absorb the water. Now, touch your paint brush to the salt and watch the magic happen!

She wanted to paint the inside of the outline. I went with the flow. If you’re using a thinner paper, I wouldn’t recommend this.

We’ve done this a few times. It’s one of Ahria’s favorites.

Don’t forget to display your masterpiece!
