Frozen Nature Delights: Ice Muffins with Nature’s Treasures
We’ve been taking advantage of the nice weather this week with some water table play. Hubby and I have been busy remodeling the RV and needed some easy activities for the kids. We went for a nature walk and gathered flowers, leaves and branches. The kids placed them in muffin tins creating this beautiful display of nature!
They were very proud of their creation!
- We filled the muffin tins with water, pushed the petals down and froze them. The next day we dumped them in the water table. I provided kid’s tweezers, spray bottles with colored water (a few drops of food coloring and suddenly it’s so much more EXCITING!), droppers and a bowl.
Mr 1 discovered that the ice muffins fit perfectly in his ball launcher. Launching ice muffins is so much fun!
Miss 4 liked dropping water onto the ice and feeling the texture it made when it melted. There is so much learning happening here! Freezing, melting, fine motor skills, science and PLAY! Also, learning to take turns and kindly ask for a toy someone else is using. That’s been a big topic this week. I’m sure some of you momma’s can relate!
This was so much fun and kept them busy for over an hour.
I love my discovery of spray bottles. Now, when I need to get something done outside, I fill the spray bottles with water and tell them the grass, plants and trees need watering!
