Lily Pad Crown
We are always on the hunt for nature treasures to make little crafts out of. While visiting the bay, my daughter pulled this giant lily pad from the side of the dock! It was amazing to see the structure of the pad. We detached the vine and turned it into a crown!
I wrapped the vine into a circle the size of her head and winded it around itself. The ends tucked nicely in between the wrapped vine and held the crown together. Then, we picked some flowers to decorate it with. This picture was the day we made it.
The next morning, the vine dried and shrunk. I had to tighten the wrapping a bit and we collected more flowers. So pretty!!
This is a great activity to try when you are by the water or camping and find some water lilies. It’s also a perfect opportunity to learn about lily pads and surrounding freshwater plants!
