DIY Mother’s Day Card: Teacup & Paper Flowers

I have always thought that homemade cards are so special. Taking the time to create a keepsake for Mom is something she will treasure forever. This tea cup and flowers card is perfect for giving as a gift on Mother’s Day. All you need is construction paper and glue!

You will need:
Construction Paper – Tru-Ray is my favorite! It’s bright and sturdy.
Glue – These are the best kind! They actually stick and you can see it until it dries.
Scissors
1 Inch Hole Punch

Pencil
Marker
Template – Download at the bottom of this page.

Instructions:

Print the template.

If you don’t have construction paper, you can color the template and cut it out. Then follow the directions below to glue it together.

If you do have construction paper, use the teacup template to trace and cut out 2 teacups. Templates are best printed onto cardstock for easier tracing, especially for littles.

For the hearts, trace the full heart on construction paper and cut them out OR you can cut the heart template in half. Fold your construction paper and line up the straight edge of the half heart with the folded side of the construction paper. Trace the half heart and cut it out. Unfold your half heart to get a full heart. I find this way a lot faster than tracing the whole heart.

Cut a few stems for your flowers.

Glue the first teacup onto the page leaving a fingers width without glue at the top. This way, you can slide the stems under the cup.

Glue the second teacup onto the first teacup. Only glue the handle and a small line on the left side. This will allow the teacup to fold open so you can write a Happy Mother’s Day message inside.

Now you can start creating your flowers. Arrange 4 hearts into a circle to make a flower. Glue a circle on top as the center.

Write Mom on the front and add a message inside the teacup.
