Counting Money First Grade Packet

Learning to count money is easy with this First Grade Counting Money Packet! Here is what’s included.

Coin Identification

Create mini books to learn about each coin.

Here’s how to make the mini books.

Use the Corn Sorting Mat to sort coins. You can use real coins or pretend coins from this Pretend Money Pack that shows the denominations for each coin.

Put together spelling puzzles for each coin. You can print these in color as a center or use it as a craft to cut and color.

Use the “less than, greater than, equal to” center to compare single coin’s value. BW or color.

Trace and write coin names. Color coins by code. Learn about counting coins with the Coin Chart.

Learn counting by intervals with these cut and paste worksheets. I like to keep the Number Lines page on my kid’s desks so they can refer to it if they get stuck while counting coins.

We use our number lines with the Ways To Make center below. It’s a lot easier for my children to see the numbers as they count them.

Counting Coins

Use the alphabet chart to add the coins and find the worth of words and your name.

Grab a price tag and place it on the Ways To Make Mat. Show the amount with coins in 2 different ways. This center comes with blank price tags for you to draw your own picture and write your own price. BW or Color.

Create a bar graph from a handful of coins (up to 6 coins per coin). Recreate your bar graph with legos or blocks like these Math Links. Then add similar coins together and fill out the Bar Graph Results page.

Add coins together and compare them with this less than, greater than or equal to center.

Color the coins to make the value.
