Pumpkin Faces – A Fall Press Painting Craft

Creating cherished family memories during the cozy fall season is so special! We love to gather at the table and make crafts. My kids had a blast making all different kinds of faces on these Painted Pumpkins. I know yours will have fun too! You can also try making these Clay Leaf Ornaments. Your children will love decorating with their works of art!

You will need:
Round Pan
Tempura Paint
Paintbrush
Paper
Sponge – or something to stamp on a stem. You even just use your paintbrush.

These pumpkin presses are so easy!

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Paint the back of the pan with orange paint. Make sure the layer is thin or the paint will smear and smudge.
2. Draw a face on the pan with a Q-Tip.
3. Place the paper onto the pan and gently rub the entire area. Be careful to not move the paper as you rub!
4. Peel the paper off and reveal your face!
5. Stamp or brush a stem onto the pumpkin.

Here’s a video showing how we made our pumpkin presses!

You can add a little red or yellow to create darker or lighter pumpkins.

Here is what happens if you use too much paint. The paint smears and the face disappears (like in the right picture below).
